New Nursing wear – how we do it here at FeelsGood city.

I always think its sounds a bit tacky and arrogant when people say “we have our new collection out for spring summer” etc etc , like they are some kinda Armani or something when really they’ve just changed the labels in their garments and stuck their label in. This believe or not happens a lot, i don’t get it, surely people would want to create something original for their brand? Creating things is SO awesome, you literally have a free rein on what you wanna do.

As Mama FeelsGood has progressed you can see how we’ve developed and learnt a hell of a lot from our mistakes and i think this makes us, us. I remember i designed a hot dog design print, i thought it was truly awesome, Matt (my husband) saw it and was like “what the hell is that, you can’t print that on a tee” and i was like “hey dude, it’s cool, it’s gonna be a hit”. Now when i look back on it i nearly pee myself with laughter and i can’t believe that i actually  took it to a print shop to print . It’s a  ” somebody tell her to step away from the photoshop filters” moment. Here it is just so you can have a laugh yourself:

I mean Everyone Loves A Weiner – ha ha ha .

When we first started we were recommended by a bigger surf style company to take our shirts down to Plymouth to get them printed, my friend the guy from the big surf company knew the owner of this huge print factory and we went down and had the big tour, chatted about how many tees we would get printed – chatted about the thousands of prints we could have done their and how they could help us source our nursing shirts themselves and different ways we could go with things.

All sounded great, then me and Matt took out our few boxes from the rental van we had driven all the way down in and said ok but for now could you print these  100 shirts for us (and that was a big amount for us then). They guy looked at us and must had thought “assholes” as he was more into thousands and not hundreds. We had them printed there (including the Weiner, i’m blushing with embarrassment as i type this) and they were the worst shitty prints we’ve ever had done.

They didn’t cure them for long enough (ie go through the dryer to set the print) so the ink came out in about 2 washes we had shelled out what was to us hundreds of pounds in our start up teeny budget and these guys couldn’t be arsed to print them properly. This broke my heart. I had taken ages in the design and manufacture of the shirts, picked the best super thick cotton and had them transported all this way over, just to take them down to Plymouth and have some prat out crap all over them !

This is one things i have learnt in business don’t think you are bigger than what you really are. Sure your clothes are amazing, you’ve got to have confidence because man they rock but don’t forget everyone has to start small and don’t let anyone or any company try and shame you into thinking in order to work with them you’ve got to be doing thousands darling ! Simply loose them and find someone who is right for you. These guys in plymouth might have been great for the bigger boys but for us they just weren’t into us and we weren’t into them. Turns out in the end the shirts they wanted us to use were pieces of crap too so we defo dodged a bullet there!

Finding someone with the same vibe as you is amazing, and when you do find them it’s like wow Peas& Carrots ! We were just meant to be together! I’m saying this because we have found a new manufacturer for our nursing clothes. We are expanding and spreading the feel good spirit and i am really excited about working with our new people. We will know where everything has come from,(not that we didn’t before) where it was made exactly and we can actually go there ourselves and check things out so you know you are wearing clothes that no one has been made to manufacture under shocking conditions (although i am taking my music with me so it depends upon you definition of bad working environment ha ha ).

So our new nursing shirts that are in the pipeline i think are awesome; i’ve taken a lot of the inspiration from places i love to visit ie california and eras i love ie 1950’s so be prepared for some laid back retro feel. I just can’t wait until they are here so i can show them to you guys.

laters dudes!

Awesome ideas for decorating your childs room

SO anyways i recently saw some lovely little bedrooms people have done for their children and i got a big case of the guilts – our youngest daughter hasn’t had her room changed since she was born (shes over 3 now) and she’s “picking” the flowers off the wall when she falls to sleep ! With us having a store over on Etsy i’m spending more time shopping working over there and have seen some absolutely LUSH things for kids rooms, so here are some of my favourites:

This Sleep Tight Poster available to buy on Etsy by the very talented French Press Mornings is so lovely. I am going to buy this and put it in my youngest daughters room, they also do another :

It’s a rise and shine one. I really love the american indian / canadian vibe (i use to watch ALOT of Northern Exposure when i was younger…. hey Chris in the morning was cool dudes)

Cushions – i’m not too sure if cushions would really be ideal for my little girls room but her older sister would love these foxy ones , although i think they are way too nice to be kept unstairs and these would be put on our sofa *in my ideal dream world where i could afford all this ! *

This is the Fox cushion by Curious Bazaar available over in their etsy store. They also have some more rad cushions :

Sorry i couldn’t resist throwing in a random moose item , i LOVE moose (before you rush off and call the RSPCA or something i don’t mean like THAT ! Again this harks back to my northern exposure days). This beauty is by Mookah : Moose cushion and is available in their Etsy store.

Cloud Mobiles are also super cool, i’ve been seeing a lot of them on Etsy and i am sure there was an original maker of these then others have seen them and run with it but i’m prettty sure on the THE originals was from an Etsy store called Babyjives, this si their cloud mobile . This would be lovely for a babies room.

I love these wooden wall letters , you can find a lot of plain ones around but i thought the paint made them even more special. They are from Oscar and Dollie on Etsy, although for 1 letter they are £16 + so it would get kinda pricy really quickly if your child wasn’t called something like  B ha ha . I don;t want to take anything away from these guys as i’m sure they handmake these – i just don’t have the budget.

I could go on and on finding lovely items for my childrens bedrooms, i think etsy provides something that little bit more quirky and original, shame is a lot of the fabulous people who sell are based in the USA so postage kinda puts a damper on some of the bigger item. If you know of any rad UK or even european sellers let me know x

breast feeding clothes, Nursing Tops

Our nursing tops are now available on Etsy

Image

I am SO chuffed to say our nursing tops are now available on Etsy. I LOVE Etsy, it gives people the creative room to make beautiful things and you can get some really lovely , special items there. I buy a lot of handmade jewellery (when i say a lot i mean like 1 piece ever year for christmas or something, i’m not dripping in gold or anything ha).

A lot of the sellers are from the USA so we thought we would bring a little west country to Etsy and our nursing shirts which are of course hand printed here in bristol are making their debut. The response has been super cool and it’s so nice to introduce our breastfeeding clothes to a new audience.

Selling on Etsy also has it’s advantages that i can set the postage price per item, so this works out better if you are ordering from outside the EU. On our website i have to give a set price for postage so this could be for 1 item or 7 pieces so it’s not always going to be accurate. Whereas Etsy i can do per item – so all you USA buyers this is for you !

We can also put on nursing shirts that are coming to their end of print and we have like 1 or 2 left of them, so think of our etsy store as somewhere to get rare nursing tops !  Here is our Tattoo owl breastfeeding top which we have 1 left of which is on our Etsy store

We are really chuffed to be part of the Etsy clan, already i’ve had some lovely messages from ladies who like our tops and i really like the fact that Etsy is full of hand made / hand printed things; Gives a sense of real care about the products on there. As we say all the time we love making our nursing tops , hand printing them takes a lot of skill and it’s cool when people appreciate what you do 🙂
